In memory of my beautiful friend, my mentor and work colleague who will be greatly missed by so many. Today we said goodbye. We smiled, we laughed and we cried with the memories and the stories told. I met you as a nervous grad nurse when i first left uni and you were my staff development nurse. Without a doubt I wouldn’t be half the nurse i am today without having shared the journey with you. No matter what different paths our nursing careers took us you were always there to offer support, guidance and a listening ear. I am ever so grateful that our paths crossed again and we had the chance to work along side each other these last 6 months. Whether it be my photographic adventures, or roadtrips or within the nursing field you always encouraged me and listened with great interest with what was coming next. Your passion for life and living it to the fullest is something I will never forget. I will miss your beautiful smile and your caring heart. RIP my friend you will never be
Nothing but the classics... It’s all well and good to step out from the norm. But sometimes the norm at select locations are the best. This was taken with the @dreamphotographyworkshops Iceland crew after waiting it out in wind and rain to get a smattering of alrightish light. @wildearthaustralia @nikonaustralia D810
Swipe Left: Venus, Mercury, and the Zodiacal Light. This was taken just before dawn on the Great Barrier Island, New Zealand. The island is a Dark Sky Sanctuary, and amazingly dark. Since the planets Venus and Mercury are closer to the sun than earth, you are looking sunward to see then. As a result the best dark times to see them are just before dawn or just after sunset. This was just before dawn. What caught my attention was how well the Zodiacal light showed up at this time. When seen just before dawn it’s called the “False Dawn”. It’s a faint diffuse roughly triangular light or glow that appears to extend from the sun along the zodiac, straddling the ecliptic. It is caused by sunlight scattered by interplanetary dust in the plane of the solor system. (Wikipedia) I thought it showed up nicely here. Check out the labeled image as well. This is a stack of 5 images stacked in SLS, 23 mm, 15 sec., f/2.8, ISO 12,800. Many thanks to Carol @darkskysanctuary for guiding me there

So glad to be a part of @jacobjonasthecompany taking over Athens meeting, their first stop in Europe. Happy to see Jacob and @jillwil42 again after our first meeting in LA back in 2017. Their project #camerasanddancers brings together dance, photography and architecture and it keeps growing through their passion!
A woman in Italy told me it’s healthy to eat pasta every day as long as you only eat lasagna on the weekends. I’m seeking no further nutrition opinions at this time.

One of my favorite shots from this fall in the Wasatch. This season I had a goal of getting out and shooting fall colors every day for at least three weeks. Definitely tossed up a couple airballs, but also hit with some awesome scenes a few times too. I wrote some words about things I learned, as well as a couple comparisons of scenes I first shot almost 15 years ago. Link in bio.
This is the heavy stuff. This is what’s not popular on social media or the paradise you always see floating around the internet. But this is the real stuff. Yes I love to travel and see the beauty in what this world has to offer, but it’s equally as important to see this part of the world too. I watched these girls wander around in search for toys and metal to possibly sell in order to make a few bucks to eat. The amount and trash, oil, residue, and feces that is washed onto shore is sickening. These people live in their own waste because they don’t have a sanitary system. No toilets, no nothing. This is life for these families and children. I can’t even imagine. Broke my heart and really set a heavy weight on me when I took this photo. I’ll be sharing more from our journey and how to help. We can all help! Click the link in the bio to find out how to donate, sponsor, give, anything to these kids. Remember how blessed we are and there are those that just need a helping hand
