Birds, Nature, and Travel Photography. Enjoying life and appreciating nature. All photos are mine (except for some of the ones I’m in 😉).
When you go to take a photo of the full moon rising and a plane photobombs the moon. 😳 Gotta love it!
Mr. & Mrs. Wood Duck looking extra gorgeous today in the pond at Five Brooks Ranch. 🥰🥰
San Francisco, the fog is comin’ for ya. 🌫 🌫 🌫
Red-tailed Hawk stilling in the wind over the great beach at Point Reyes National Seashore on a slightly foggy afternoon. It’s always fun to watch these amazing raptors hang in midair, almost-motionless, while scanning the ground below in search of the next meal. (I only wish the light had been better. Still a great day, though, and a great location! 🥰)
Point Reyes Lighthouse ~ Now open again, as of Friday, November 8, 2019. Point Reyes Lighthouse ~ Of course, after coming down the 308+ steps to the lighthouse, one must climb back up that loooooong staircase, too. It’s totally worth it! 😉
The beautiful, historic Point Reyes Lighthouse is now open again, after being closed since August 2018 for the big restoration project. It was great to be able to go down that long staircase again! An added treat was going into the lighthouse to hear a ranger speak about the history and the inner workings of the lighthouse itself. Bravo, NPS!!!
The historic Point Reyes Lighthouse reopened TODAY after being closed for over a year during the restoration project. What a treat to be able to visit it again today and see how wonderful it looks!!! 🥰
Evening reflection with sunset over Mt. Tamalpais ~ Such a pretty time of day. 🥰
A lovely Golden Gate Bridge view from Baker Beach, complete with reflection in the wet sand.
It was a glorious day to visit Baker Beach yesterday! ❤️🥰❤️
Halloween sunset with a nice orange glow tonight. 🎃
Smokey sunset over Point Bonita tonight.
Pretty sky and reflection just after sunset tonight. 🥰
Hutton’s Vireo ~ This cute little Hutton’s Vireo was busily hopping around the coyote brush at the top of Hawk Hill on Sunday, October 20, 2019, in the Marin Headlands. In moments when the Hawk-watching is a bit slow, it’s always fun to watch the nearby passerines. They can be quite entertaining! 🥰
Ferruginous Hawk ~ two more shots of this beeeeeauuuutiful, big white buteo as it flew past Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands on its way south during fall migration. Always exciting to see one of these magnificent birds! Check out that 4-5 foot wingspan. 🥰
Ferruginous Hawk ~ Flying high over the Marin Headlands during fall migration. When viewed from below, it’s clear to see why this hawk is often referred to as the “big white buteo!”
Ferruginous Hawk ~ It’s always a thrill when a Ferruginous Hawk comes into view in the skies above the Marin Headlands during the GGRO Hawkwatch! The first two photos of this hawk aren’t in great focus, but they show the topside view of this bird and you can see the white areas in the outer wings and upper tail areas, a classic “three points of light” field mark of the Ferruginous Hawk.
