SAVE FOR LATER 📩 Our wrist and hands play an imperative role in our daily lives. We use them for basic survival, recreation, communication, even creative expression. An injury to the wrist can be debilitating and the healing process lengthy. Speaking first hand as I recently injured my wrist over the Summer and the recovery has taken months! 😬

From athletes to office workers, wrist issues are one of the most common complaints among my students. Along with modern conveniences come repetitive movements- such as typing, texting, mousing, gaming, the list goes on... One of the most prevalent types of wrist ailment today is a repetitive strain/stress injury. Despite this being one of the most crucial parts of the body needed for every day function, it’s often the most overlooked.

Solution? Incorporating this yoga sequence into your day-to-day routine will not only help during recovery from an injury, it will also help prevent future issues. You + your wrist can thank me later. 😌

1️⃣ Starting in a table top position, VERY gently begin to rock forward and back in micro movements encouraging your shoulders slightly over your wrist. Extremely important to practice body awareness. You DO NOT want to feel any pinching or pain🙅🏽‍♀️!!

2️⃣ Turn your fingers facing your knees and the inside of your elbows facing forward. Allow the shoulders to stay soft and spine long. Shift your weight back towards the heels this time, to feel an additional stretch in the wrists + forearms

3️⃣ Fingers still facing your knees, rotate the palms up towards your face with the back of your hands on the mat, trying to keep your arms as straight as possible. Begin to drop your weight back towards the heels to again, feel an additional stretch in the wrists and opposite side of forearms

4️⃣ Release any remaining lactic acid buildup by rotating the wrist in small circles. BONUS toe/foot stretch (I will go more into detail in another post, I love to end this sequence w/ this bad boy) Sit on your heels with feet together, then bring your weight forward and tuck your toes under. Steadily move your weight back on the balls of the feet w/ each exhale.

Repeat each pose for 5-10 breath cycles.
