Projects that we have missed: Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-operative, 119 Prouses Road, North Bendigo, Victoria.
Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-operative (BDAC) officially opened its new Health and Community Centre in North Bendigo in 2017, and provides a range of Health and Wellbeing, and Family Services programs to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Dja Dja Wurrung Region.
The BDAC Community and Cultural Centre is designed to encompass three distinct service areas; administration and human resources; community & cultural centre and health & wellbeing centre.

To ensure the buildings blend into the surrounding environment they were constructed of ‘rammed earth’ and colorbond roofing. Natural timbers for trims have been used where appropriate. The palletted is muted and earth tones. A one-way ring road travels around the boundary of the site.

The innovation of Punmu Community always astounds. Punmu is one of the most remote communities in Australia. On Martu Country, and on the edge of the Great Sandy and Gibson deserts, located 200 kilometres from the community of Kunawarritji Community, Western Australia and 700 kilometres from the nearest town, Port Hedland, Western Australia. Keeping on Country, connected to culture while providing opportunities is upmost on everyone's mind.

Punmu community first invented a barrel train (The Western Desert Express in 2017) to encourage school attendance and have some fun, then a water park and flying dingo and the BMX track was completed 5 months ago. A laser tag centre was finished just 6 weeks ago, and the Punmu Community are adding a plunge pool with slide in the new year.

We congratulate all the builders and suppliers (apparently they have engineering mastermind called Donald (McGivor) Graham) who are putting their time and energy to make the Punmu Activity Hub, let the kids play!!! There are some great videos:

Was at @cornerstone college SA today. Very impressed to see a corten steel sign acknowledging the land as the Traditional Lands of the Peramangk Peoples. Very reminiscent of the work of Indigenous landscape architect #paulherzich Not quite sure of the artist. In the Kimberley, 3,500kms from Perth, the FISH Bawoorrooga Self-build Sustainable Housing and Education Project is continuing to progress.

The FoundationforIndigenousSustainable Health and Bawoorrooga Team are constructing the first SuperAdobe (earthbag) home in the Kimberley and the first co-designed SuperAdobe house in Australia integrating cultural design principles throughout.

The FISH architect Jara Romero-Escolar worked for six months with Bawoorrooga Community through a co-design process to design the building and with FISH Project Manager Kristian Rodd are now working with the community to build the house.

Now the electrical pre-lay has been completed the team are doing the final internal render. The internal render is a lime render allowing the walls to breathe.

The opening of the @munupiarts Art Centre by @kaunitzyeungarchitecture featured in an article by Greg Bearup in @review australian "The preparations for the grand opening of the flash new building at the Munupi Arts Centre are in full chaotic swing. The entire mob is yet to arrive for the big day and as they meander in Carol Puruntatameri, 60, explains what all the art business means to her. Oh, it mean everything,"she says in her lovely rambunctious Tiwi accent, "Yeah it's good for me and my people. Them stories, them old stories, it's important we tell them stories." The stories of her people, the Tiwi people, live in their art. "It's our songlines, our dreaming, ya know." "The new arts centre is a simple, elegant structure. It will be dedicated to Carol's daughter-in-law, the famed Tiwi artist Natalie Puantulura, who died in 2016 and who created much of her art here. One of Natalie's intricate dot paintings has been transposed and laser-cut into large sheets of aluminium that form

Sydney’s inner west has been scattered with artworks from Indigenous artists thanks to a collaboration between Copyright Agency and Downer, NBN Co’s delivery partner.

Twenty-two artworks are wrapped around NBN network nodes across the city. This project has created an Indigenous Art Street Walk in St Peters, Alexandria, Erskineville and Newtown, with 18 cabinets already completed, and a further five being finalised in Newtown over the next few weeks.
