When a picture is really worth a thousand words 🇱🇧✌🏼

I'm writing this post for all the unsung heroes who went down to clean up Beirut last Saturday morning 19 October not knowing what to expect and how to manage it all.

The initial plan was to go down on Friday night but were advised not to as riots were going on in every area surrounding Riad El Solh and Sehet El Chohada. So, we decided to spread the message to go on saturday morning starting 7 AM and show the true face of the revolution and clean the streets of our beloved Beirut.

After we started working, TV channels were there filming and they interviewed us, people at home saw instagram stories or facebook posts. Couple of hours later, more and more people were coming down just asking how they can help and where.

People like:
-Guy Younes
-Stephanie Abiad
-Sandra Abbas
-Jad Tanios
-Peter Mouracady and his wife Tatiana
-Beautiful people who stopped their cars and came to help
-Nakhle Odaime

At the end of the day we were 20 people and had cleaned up most of the surrounding areas.
We decided to form a whatsapp group - which later became @muwatinlebnene on instagram - and started adding people from all over the country who also wanted to help.

All that you're seeing now from logistics to supplies and the enormous number volunteers is thanks to one beautiful team!
Peter, Taymour, Joslin, Hiba, Tatiana, Marya, Jad, Joanne, Dea, Samer, Hassan, Antoine, Rawan, Charif, Tala hats off to you! 🙌🏻 Now, we are 500 volunteers coming down every day to help pick up, sort and dispose of all the trash.
Also, people who have dedicated their lives for this like Arc en ciel, Recycle Lebanon, Ziad Abi Chaker, Recycle Beirut, liveloverecycle and Ramco also joining in and teaching us how to sort and where to dispatch in order to ensure proper recylcing!
This beautiful domino effect gives me hope of a new and better Lebanon.
It gives hope that everything is possible and when there's a will there's a way.
We CAN in fact manage our waste, sort it and recycle it.
And NO! The landfills solution is not the only one for Lebanon and these initiatives are clearly showing it!
This has been the best part of the revolution for me and I love you all for doing this ❤

Don't let the media discourage you with their coverage or their misleading interviews.
Don't let the propaganda videos scare you on whatsapp. The army is on our side.
Don't let the long duration of this protest tire you. This is a revolution not a weekend getaway.
Don't think for one second that it's political or against one political party, it's against all parties and against corruption.

Go down on the streets. See for yourself and you will meet the most awesome human beings in this country.

And for the experts and tactical protests analysts evaluating this protest because of the music, the dancing, the absence of a front. This spontaneous movement brought around 2 million lebanese people across lebanon in a couple of days with no leader calling for it!!!!
When was the last time you saw that?
Give it more time!
It will mature and become more and more solid we just need time.

See you on the streets ✌🏼 🇱🇧 #لبنان_يثور
